Boros Energy is a fast, wide aggro deck that floods the board with creatures like Ocelot Pride and Guide of Souls, then leverages Goblin Bombardment and Phlage to close quickly. Celestial Purge is a clean answer to their key red and black permanents, particularly Ragavan and Seasoned Pyromancer. High Noon punishes their reactive spells and slows their ability to chain multiple threats in a single turn, buying you time to stabilize with Solitude and Phelia. Prismatic Ending comes out because it's a sorcery-speed answer that underperforms against their low-cost, fast threats compared to Galvanic Discharge and Solitude. Casey Jones is too slow and reactive for a matchup where you need to stabilize the board early.
In the mirror, the game revolves around Ragavan tempo, Consign to Memory wars over key threats, and who can land a Quantum Riddler that sticks. Mystical Dispute and Strix Serenade are premier counterspells here — both answer Consign to Memory and Solitude at minimal cost, which are the most impactful spells to contest. High Noon punishes the opponent's Ephemerate and instant-speed tricks, slowing their blink engine considerably while you develop your own threats. Prismatic Ending is relatively weak in the mirror since both decks run few standalone permanents that aren't threats, and Casey Jones is the least impactful threat when both players have efficient removal. Prioritize protecting your Quantum Riddler with open mana and winning the Ragavan race — the player who accrues more card advantage from pilfering tends to win the long game.
Affinity is an artifact-based aggro-combo deck that wins through Kappa Cannoneer, Urza's Saga tokens, and Arcbound Ravager sacrificing into a large threat. Wrath of the Skies gives you a scalable board wipe that can answer multiple artifacts and creatures at once, which is critical when Affinity floods the board with tokens and modular counters. Celestial Purge cleanly exiles Kappa Cannoneer and can hit Mox Opal or other key permanents. Strix Serenade counters key spells like Weapons Manufacturing or Kappa Cannoneer for just one blue mana. Casey Jones and Fable of the Mirror-Breaker are too slow and provide no defensive value in a race against artifact storm, while Prismatic Ending's mana restriction makes it awkward compared to Celestial Purge's clean exile effect.
