Culling Ritual blows up their Basking Broodscale, Eldrazi Spawn tokens, and Talisman of Resilience while ramping us, which is excellent against their low-curve permanent-based plan. Buried Alive is weak here since our graveyard combo pieces get hit by their own graveyard hate package (Grafdigger's Cage, Soul-Guide Lantern) and we'd rather not overload the yard against a deck that can punish it. Flare of Malice is a liability against a deck full of huge, equally-costed Eldrazi where sacrificing our own creature for marginal value is less efficient than removal. Witherbloom Charm's destroy mode kills Basking Broodscale or a Spawn token cheaply and its sacrifice mode can net cards if our board stalls.

This is a mirror-ish graveyard-matters race, so proactive disruption matters more than our own graveyard filling. Thoughtseize strips their Thoughtseize, Flare of Malice, or a key threat like Fear of Missing Out before they can deploy their plan. Timeline Culler is a middling body against their own aggressive curve and we'd rather spend early turns disrupting hands. Witherbloom Charm can destroy their Stitcher's Supplier or Mishra's Bauble cheaply, or gain 5 life to blunt their Lightning Bolt, the only part of their burn that can target us directly.

Thoughtseize is premium against control, stripping Solitude, Supreme Verdict, or a planeswalker like Teferi, Time Raveler before they can use it to disrupt our plan. Buried Alive telegraphs our graveyard plan and is vulnerable to their Day's Undoing resetting the game, so it comes out for more proactive disruption. Witherbloom Charm is flexible but modest here: it can destroy a nonland permanent with mana value 2 or less like Isochron Scepter (it can't hit Narset, Parter of Veils or Teferi, which cost three), let us sacrifice a permanent to draw two, or gain 5 life to buy time against their removal-heavy shell. Timeline Culler's body is unexciting against a deck planning to Wrath of the Skies or Supreme Verdict the board.
