Boros Energy is an aggressive creature deck that generates enormous value through Guide of Souls, Ocelot Pride, and Ajani triggers, so your primary goal is to slow their board development while assembling Tron to deploy game-ending threats. Torpor Orb shuts off Guide of Souls and Ajani, Nacatl Pariah's enter-the-battlefield triggers, significantly reducing their energy generation and board snowball potential. Ensnaring Bridge is a powerful stabilizer once your hand empties through Tron pieces and Karn activations, and Karn can tutor it directly from the sideboard if you don't draw it naturally. Walking Ballista gives you a scalable answer to small creatures like Ragavan and Ocelot Pride tokens that can get out of hand quickly. Chalice of the Void on one is cut because they play many one-mana spells but also have Wear/Tear in the board that can blow up Chalice, and the tap-out artifacts like Torpor Orb and Ensnaring Bridge provide more durable disruption.
Jeskai Blink is built around Ephemerate loops with Solitude, Phelia, and Phlage — all of which have powerful enters-the-battlefield triggers, making Torpor Orb a high-impact hate piece that shuts down their primary engine. Disruptor Flute naming Phlage or Quantum Riddler taxes their ability to cycle and refuel, slowing their clock considerably. The Stone Brain can exile Ephemerate or Solitude from the game entirely, collapsing whatever axis they're leaning on. Chalice of the Void is awkward here since their deck operates across many mana values, and Trinisphere is less effective against a deck with enough lands and cantrip-adjacent cycling. Your threats — Thought-Knot Seer, Karn, and Ugin, Eye of the Storms — are all potent in this matchup, so protect your mana base and deploy threats ahead of their counterspells.
Affinity is a fast artifact-based deck that aims to overwhelm you with Kappa Cannoneer, Weapons Manufacturing tokens, and Urza's Saga constructs before your mana comes online. Torpor Orb shuts down Emry, Lurker of the Loch and Kappa Cannoneer's enter-the-battlefield triggers, dramatically reducing their engine's power. The Filigree Sylex provides a clean answer to a wide board of low-cost artifacts and tokens that Kozilek's Command and Dismember may struggle to handle efficiently. Walking Ballista acts as a flexible removal tool fetchable via Karn, the Great Creator, able to ping constructs and pick off Arcbound Ravager before it grows out of control. Trinisphere comes out because Affinity plays many zero- and one-mana artifacts like Mox Opal and Mishra's Bauble that they can easily work around, while Vexing Bauble is similarly low-impact against a deck that wants to flood the board rather than chain spells.
