Fatal Push handles most of their small threats just fine, including Basking Broodscale, since adapt counters don't change its mana value, but it still whiffs on Devourer of Destiny and Emrakul, so we trim some copies for Toxic Deluge, which sweeps their entire board of small creatures for a manageable life payment. Consign to Memory stops colorless spells like Devourer of Destiny, Emrakul, and Kozilek's Command from resolving, but it can't touch green sorceries like Ancient Stirrings or Malevolent Rumble, which are colored spells outside its reach. Vexing Bauble punishes their many 0-mana-adjacent effects less directly, but Pithing Needle can shut down a problematic Urza's Saga or a repeatable threat. Basim is a fragile attacker against a deck full of blockers and removal, so it sits while we prioritize interaction and sweepers.

Harbinger of the Seas turns all their nonbasic lands into Islands, shutting off the colored mana they need for spells like Lightning Bolt and Expressive Iteration, while also trading well in combat against their small one-power early creatures. Consign to Memory is cheap interaction against their aggressive curve and can counter a colorless spell like Mishra's Bauble or answer Cori-Steel Cutter triggers. Force of Negation lets us counter Cori-Steel Cutter or Expressive Iteration for free on their turn. Basim and Erayo are too fragile and slow against a deck this fast and full of removal, so they come out in favor of proactive disruption and a hate-bear that cripples their mana.

This is a grindy value matchup, so Thoughtseize proactively strips their Solitude, Overlord of the Balemurk, or removal before they can use it against our threats. Kaito is an excellent, resilient threat that dodges their Solitude/Flickerwisp tempo plays and generates card advantage each turn. Consign to Memory answers triggered abilities like their Orcish Bowmasters ping or Overlord of the Balemurk's mill trigger, since it can only target a triggered ability or a colorless spell on the stack, not a permanent or a colored spell like Ephemerate, Flickerwisp, or Quantum Riddler. Erayo and Basim are too easily picked off by their removal and blink shenanigans, so we trim them for more resilient, disruptive cards.
