Buy sideboard on ManapoolMono Red Madness wins with direct damage from spells and Guttersnipe/Kessig Flamebreather triggers rather than combat, so killing their engine creatures matters more than blocking. Drown in Sorrow's -2/-2 kills Voldaren Epicure and Guttersnipe outright, cutting off their damage multipliers. Tragic Slip is efficient one-mana removal for the same targets. Snuff Out remains excellent instant-speed interaction against a deck with no way to protect its creatures. Sadistic Glee and Unearth are cut since this matchup is about answering their threats quickly, not grinding value.
Mono-Blue Terror's Tolarian Terror and Cryptic Serpent get cheaper for every instant/sorcery in their graveyard, and their whole plan depends on resolving key spells behind Counterspell and Force Spike protection. Mesmeric Fiend proactively strips a counterspell or a key threat from their hand before they can protect it, which is far more valuable here than combat-oriented creatures. The sideboard Accursed Marauder swaps in for the maindeck copy purely for deck-building bookkeeping (no functional change), forcing a sacrifice that can snipe an early Delver of Secrets or a resolved Tolarian Terror. Nezumi Linkbreaker's combat-focused death trigger is weak against a deck full of removal-light but counterspell-heavy control elements, so it steps aside for proactive disruption.
Tron aims to assemble Urza's Tower, Urza's Power Plant, and Urza's Mine to cheat out huge threats like Maelstrom Colossus and Bramble Wurm, so the priority is disrupting their ramp/card-selection engine and racing before they hit critical mass. Faerie Macabre and Nihil Spellbomb offer utility rather than key hate here since Tron's engine is land-based, but Faerie Macabre's flying body can chip in while Nihil Spellbomb can replace itself. Spinning Darkness deals with a nonblack creature like a prototyped Boulderbranch Golem or a Rooftop Percher while gaining life to survive their big swings; note it does not kill their largest threats like Maelstrom Colossus or Bramble Wurm outright. Unearth and Sadistic Glee come out since our aggressive low-curve plan wants to close the game fast before Tron's mana engine takes over.
