Buy sideboard on ManapoolMono Red Madness kills through burn spells to the face, not combat, so Fog effects like Tangle only stop damage from attacking creatures such as Voldaren Epicure and Sneaky Snacker and do nothing against direct damage from Fiery Temper, Lightning Bolt, and Fireblast. Hydroblast is premium here, countering or destroying their red spells and creatures like Kessig Flamebreather and Guttersnipe before those payoffs snowball damage. Suffocating Fumes' -1/-1 can wipe out Voldaren Epicure and shrink Kessig Flamebreather to a 0/2, but its damage triggers are a flat 1 per noncreature spell cast regardless of its power, so the reduction only helps by killing it outright rather than slowing its output. Trim slower value pieces since this matchup is a race against direct damage, not attackers.
Mono-Blue Terror's threat base, Tolarian Terror and Cryptic Serpent, requires instants and sorceries in the graveyard to reduce their casting cost, making graveyard hate extremely effective. Faerie Macabre can exile cards for free by discarding itself, and Relic of Progenitus can strip their whole graveyard, directly countering the cost-reduction engine fueled by Thought Scour and Mental Note. Combat damage is secondary to their tempo plan, so Fog effects matter less than denying the graveyard resource; Tangle and Toxin Analysis come out for the graveyard hate package. Keep Moment's Peace and the rest of your Fog suite to survive Delver of Secrets beats while the graveyard hate shuts down their real payoffs.
Tron has almost no combat damage plan early and instead assembles Urza's Tower/Mine/Power Plant to cast giant threats like Maelstrom Colossus and Bramble Wurm, so Fog effects are less valuable than usual. Duress and Pilfer strip Ancient Stirrings, Expedition Map, or Crop Rotation before they find their lands, disrupting the Tron assembly directly. Keep the bulk of the Fog suite since Pinnacle Kill-Ship, Bramble Wurm, and cascade creatures still need to be neutralized in combat once they land. This is a grindy matchup where your card draw engine (Lembas, Ichor Wellspring, Deep Analysis) should out-value their clunky ramp shell.
