Buy sideboard on ManapoolThis matchup is a race against a dedicated combo-tempo plan built around turn-one Phyrexian Dreadnought protected by Stifle, Vision Charm, and a dense counterspell suite. Sphere of Resistance and Rishadan Port are already excellent, taxing their cheap counters and slowing their mana. Thermokarst provides no life gain here since they run only basic Islands, so trim two copies for Aura of Silence, which taxes their artifacts (Phyrexian Dreadnought and Powder Keg) and can answer them if needed. Keep Winter's Grasp in since it can occasionally strand a mana-screwed draw, and prioritize deploying threats under Sphere of Resistance's tax to close the game before they assemble the combo.
Mono-Red Sligh has almost no artifacts or enchantments worth Naturalizing, but Cursed Totem shuts off Grim Lavamancer's activated ability and Mogg Fanatic's sacrifice ability, removing two key sources of reach and removal for them. Keep Swords to Plowshares in full to answer Grim Lavamancer and Goblin Vandal, and keep Sphere of Resistance to tax their low curve. This is a race where Wasteland and Rishadan Port slow their explosive draws while Terravore grows from the mutual fetchland/Wasteland fallout.
This matchup is decided by enchantment removal, so we bring in additional Naturalize and Aura of Silence alongside Enlightened Tutor to fetch whichever answer is needed most, whether that is Sterling Grove, Enchantress's Presence, or Solitary Confinement. Aura of Silence also taxes their enchantment spells by {2}, slowing their ability to chain Argothian Enchantress and Enchantress's Presence triggers. Sphere of Resistance is far less impactful here since the opponent's enchantment-heavy plan absorbs the tax easily while it also hurts our own Oath of Druids and Swords to Plowshares, so we trim it. Winter's Grasp and Thermokarst are land destruction aimed at manabases, but this opponent's real engine is Serra's Sanctum-fueled card advantage and lock pieces, not land count, so cutting some copies for proactive answers is worth it while keeping enough disruption to fight through Sterling Grove's protection.
