Buy sideboard on ManapoolBRG runs four different nonbasic land cycles (Blooming Marsh, Overgrown Tomb, Starting Town, Stomping Ground, Wastewood Verge), so Sunspine Lynx's ETB damage adds up fast against their manabase. Fiery Annihilation gives more reach and removal against their midrange creature base. Witchstalker Frenzy is often too slow since it needs an attacker to discount it and 5 damage is overkill on their small creatures; Lightning Strike and one Shock come out as the weakest low-impact removal since their creatures (Sackville-Bagginses, Biotech Specialist) are already handled by cheaper burn we keep.
Izzet Spellementals casts a very high volume of cheap cantrips (Opt, Sleight of Hand, Flow State) and instants (Prismari Charm, Burst Lightning), so Magebane Lizard punishes every extra spell they chain together in a turn. Hexing Squelcher gives our whole team Ward, protecting against their Prismari Charm bounce and Eddymurk Crab tap effects while making our own spells uncounterable against Spell Snare and Get Out. Witchstalker Frenzy is awkward since it needs an attacker already in combat and their early creatures (Hearth Elemental, Eddymurk Crab) are big enough that 5 damage isn't always efficient removal; Shock is too small to matter against their 4/5 and 5/5 bodies.
Mono-Green Landfall runs many nonbasic lands (Ba Sing Se, Escape Tunnel, Fabled Passage) that trigger Sunspine Lynx's ETB damage, and its lifegain-prevention clause blanks any lifegain shenanigans from Rapid Rescue. Hexing Squelcher's Ward makes our threats stickier against their removal-light, creature-heavy plan and helps close a straightforward race. We trim our smallest burn spells since their creatures (Mightform Harmonizer, Icetill Explorer) are often too big to profitably 2-for-1 with Shock or Lightning Strike, favoring bigger threats and removal we keep.
