Dimir Tempo leans heavily on Thoughtseize, Force of Will, and Daze to strip and counter our combo pieces, so Veil of Summer is excellent both to protect a key spell and to draw a card off their hand disruption or removal. Surgical Extraction can strip a copy of Thoughtseize or a key threat like Nethergoyf, especially after they discard or cast it. Karakas bounces a problematic Bilbo, Thief in the Night, resetting their card advantage engine. Not of This World is largely dead here since it does nothing against their countermagic and costs the full seven mana to protect Vampire Hexmage or Dark Depths before Marit Lage is in play, so it comes out for more proactive protection.

Ocelot Pride Midrange goes wide fast with Ocelot Pride, Guide of Souls, and Ajani, Nacatl Pariah tokens, so Abrupt Decay is premium uncounterable removal for any of those three-drops-or-less threats before they snowball. Endurance can flash in as a 3/4 blocker to stem the token swarm and its graveyard-hate ETB blunts any Cabal Therapy or Overlord-style recursion they bring. Veil of Summer protects our combo pieces from their Thoughtseize and draws a card whenever they cast it. Duress is weak here since their deck is proactive and creature-heavy rather than reliant on key noncreature spells, and Legolas's Quick Reflexes is too narrow against their wide-board plan.

WU Tempo relies on Force of Will, Daze, and Stifle to protect Tamiyo, Inquisitive Student and disrupt our lands/activations, so Veil of Summer is excellent to push a spell through their countermagic while drawing a card off any blue spell they've cast. Abrupt Decay is uncounterable removal that can kill Tamiyo before she flips or answer Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd cheaply. Duress comes out since it can't interact with their permission spells once they're already holding up mana, and this matchup rewards proactive, uncounterable plays over discard that whiffs against an empty-handed opponent holding up Force of Will.
