Mono Red Madness wins by racing you with direct damage, so Weather the Storm's life gain buys crucial turns against Lightning Bolt, Fiery Temper, and Fireblast, especially since it can be cast reactively at instant speed. Drown in Sorrow sweeps their early Voldaren Epicures and any other small creatures, resetting their board before Kessig Flamebreather/Guttersnipe damage triggers snowball. Bojuka Bog and Desert are cut since graveyard hate doesn't stop madness (Fiery Temper is exiled, not milled) and Desert's single point of damage is irrelevant against their damage-based plan. Snuff Out is less valuable here since most of their key damage-dealers can't simply be killed to stop the burn already dealt, though keep some removal for Kessig Flamebreather and Guttersnipe if games go long.
Dimir Control is a tempo/counterspell deck full of small flying evasive threats (Faerie Seer, Spellstutter Sprite, Moon-Circuit Hacker, Ninja of the Deep Hours) backed by Counterspell and Of One Mind for card advantage, so this is more of a grindy attrition matchup than a hard-removal one. Heritage Reclamation offers flexible instant-speed value, letting you exile a card from their graveyard and draw while playing around their permission. Faerie Macabre is a 2/2 flying blocker that can trade with their evasive fliers while also exiling graveyard resources. Drown in Sorrow only kills their many 1-toughness creatures if you have none of your own on board, so weigh it carefully, and Desert's single damage point is too slow to matter against their proactive game plan.
Spy Combo wants to flood the board with mana dorks (Elves of Deep Shadow, Saruli Caretaker), Walls (Overgrown Battlement, Wall of Roots), and eventually big creatures via Balustrade Spy/Dread Return, so additional copies of Drown in Sorrow are excellent at wiping their smaller early creatures before they can leverage them. Faerie Macabre's discard-to-exile ability can strip graveyard cards feeding Dread Return's reanimation target, disrupting their most explosive line. Desert and Campfire are lower-impact here, whereas Bojuka Bog exiles their graveyard to remove both Dread Return and its reanimation targets. Keep maindeck removal like Cast Down and Defile to handle Troll of Khazad-dûm and reanimated threats, as Snuff Out cannot target black creatures.
