Mono-Green Eldrazi runs colorless lands like Eldrazi Temple and Ugin's Labyrinth alongside big colorless threats, so Consign to Memory is brought in to counter their colorless spells (such as Sowing Mycospawn, Drowner of Truth, Emrakul, Ulamog, and Kozilek's Command) or triggered abilities like Fight Rigging. Surgical Extraction and Tormod's Crypt have low impact since this deck's engine (Malevolent Rumble, Green Sun's Zenith, Kozilek's Command) isn't graveyard-dependent, but Tormod's Crypt does deny Fanatic of Rhonas eternalize from the graveyard. Consign to Memory gives us direct answers to this matchup's giant Eldrazi bodies (Emrakul, Ulamog, Drowner of Truth) and Kozilek's Command exile effects, while we lean on our speed advantage and targeted disruption. Violent Urge is cut since it does little against 6/6 and larger bodies.

Boros Energy fields a wide array of small, resilient creatures like Ragavan, Ocelot Pride, and Guide of Souls, so efficient removal beats our clunkier combat tricks. Unholy Heat kills Ragavan, Ocelot Pride, Guide of Souls, Seasoned Pyromancer, and Ajani's Cat tokens cleanly for one mana, and reaches 6 damage against Voice of Victory once we hit delirium. Surgical Extraction can strip a key Ragavan or Ajani copy from their deck after it dies, denying them a recurring threat. Violent Urge's marginal combat boost matters less than raw removal against their go-wide energy strategy, so it's the cut alongside Lava Dart's weaker 1 damage.

Affinity is an artifact-heavy deck with Mox Opal, Urza's Saga, Kappa Cannoneer, and Pinnacle Emissary tokens, making Meltdown a premium sweeper: for X=1 it clears Mox Opal, Mishra's Bauble, Welding Jar, and Emissary's Drone tokens, while a bigger X can catch Kappa Cannoneer itself. Tormod's Crypt hits their own Tormod's Crypt-style graveyard synergies only marginally, but it's a fine artifact to trade for value and denies Emry, Lurker of the Loch recursion targets. Surgical Extraction can permanently remove a copy of Urza's Saga or Mox Opal after we see one, shrinking their key mana engine. Violent Urge and Mutagenic Growth are cut since combat tricks matter less against a deck assembling an artifact critical mass rather than fighting on the stack for creature combat.
