Mono Red Madness is an aggressive burn deck that wins through direct damage via Guttersnipe, Kessig Flamebreather, and spell triggers combined with Faithless Looting enabling Fiery Temper madness casts — your primary defense is countering their key spells and stabilizing behind your artifacts. Bring in the full package of Blue Elemental Blast and Hydroblast to counter or neutralize their burn spells and creatures, plus Red Elemental Blast as an additional counterspell or removal piece against their red permanents. The additional Krark-Clan Shaman gives you a repeatable board wipe threat against their small creatures like Voldaren Epicure and Sneaky Snacker. Cut the Nihil Spellbomb suite since graveyard hate is low-impact here — their Faithless Looting and madness synergies don't rely on a persistent graveyard — and shave the lower-impact utility cards Fanatical Offering, Hunter's Blowgun, and Makeshift Munitions that are too slow against their burn-speed clock. Prioritize deploying Myr Enforcer and Refurbished Familiar early to build a board presence that pressures them to attack rather than burn your face, and use your counterspells reactively to protect your life total from Guttersnipe triggers and Fireblast finishes.
Mono-Blue Terror is a tempo-permission deck that wins by countering your spells and attacking with large cheap creatures like Tolarian Terror and Cryptic Serpent while you fall behind on card development. Bring in Blue Elemental Blast and Hydroblast to counter their threats, protect your key spells from their counterspells, and generate card advantage through the one-mana interaction. Trim Toxin Analysis, Fanatical Offering, and Hunter's Blowgun since these slower, non-blue-interactive pieces are too clunky when their counters tax every spell, and Krark-Clan Shaman is largely irrelevant against a creatureless-ish permission deck with few small targets. Your Thoughtcast, Ichor Wellspring, and Reckoner's Bargain engines are critical to keep up in cards against their cantrip suite, so prioritize landing an artifact-heavy board state early to reduce the cost of your draw spells and outpace their hand sculpting.
Mono-White Aggro floods the board with cheap creatures and threatens to alpha-strike with Battle Screech tokens pumped by Rally the Peasants, so Krark-Clan Shaman is your highest-priority threat to resolve — sacrificing any artifact deals 1 damage to all creatures without flying, which can clear Lunarch Veteran, Thraben Inspector, and the entire Clue-token ecosystem in a single activation. Prismatic Strands is their most disruptive answer, capable of fogging your Shaman activation or nullifying your entire combat step, so the two Extract a Confession sorceries come in to randomly strip it (or post-board Dust to Dust) before they can deploy it. Unexpected Fangs on a Myr Enforcer or Utrom Monitor lets you trade profitably in combat while recovering life lost to their early pressure. Nihil Spellbomb is pure graveyard hate with no application here, and Hunter's Blowgun and Makeshift Munitions are too slow and mana-intensive against a deck that can end the game on turn four.
